Michael Webber
Dr. Michael E. Webber is the Sid Richardson Chair in the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the John J. McKetta Centennial Energy Chair in Mechanical Engineering at UT Austin. He previously served as CTO of Energy Impact Partners, a $5B cleantech venture fund, and as Chief Science and Technology Officer at ENGIE in Paris. A leading expert on energy systems, his research focuses on grid reliability, hydrogen, the built environment, and the food-energy-water-waste nexus. He is the author of five books, including Power Trip and Thirst for Power, which inspired award-winning documentaries and television series reaching millions worldwide. Webber has written more than 600 publications, holds six patents, and has been recognized with honors including the American Energy Society’s 2024 Energy Thought Leader award, a Fulbright Technical Specialist appointment, and ASME Fellowship.
